Next month will see Brisbane Roar go head on against Melbourne City.
However, the team has threatened to field their youth team against Melbourne City, if their schedule falls 72 hours of their likely AFC Champions League playoff in China against Shanghai Shenhua.
The club’s clash against the Shanghai club was moved back a day to the 8th of February, which thus means that kick-off would be less than 72 hours before Roar’s game against City on February 11 at AAMI Park.
Although the tem is yet to book it’s berth against Shanghai, it is expected they would do so by going on to beat either Tampines Rovers (Singapore) or Global Fc (Philippines) on the 31st of January this year at the Suncorp Stadium.
And if Roar make it to Shanghai, Greg O’Rourke, A-League boss has said that the club’s A-league match against City would not be shifted back by a day, despite the preference of the Football Federation Australia that teams should have 72 hours between games.
